As per the latest announcement by Central Board of Secondary Education regarding reducing the syllabus by 30%, subject wise declaration has been made too. Students have been eager to be intimated about the deletion of topics considering half of the financial year has gone by. This article caters to the CBSE deleted syllabus of Science subject, 10th Class 2020-21 that would not be addressed in the Board examination.

Central Board of Secondary Education took this step considering the pandemic and the loss of studies it caused to the students for not attending schools. The current mode of learning for school students since March 2020 to till date has been a virtual classroom (the online mode). This mode has caused for students to miss out on a lot of their topics. This led CBSE to reduce a major chink of syllabus from the usual.

CBSE deleted syllabus of Science CHAPTER TOPICS deleted from the syllabus
UNIT I- CHEMICAL SUBSTANCES-NATURE & BEHAVIOUR Metals and Non-Metals Basic Metallurgical processes, Corrosion and its prevention
Carbon Compounds Nomenclature of carbon compounds containing functional groups (halogens, alcohol, ketones, aldehydes, alkanes and alkynes), difference between saturated and hydro carbons. Chemical properties of carbon compounds (combustion, oxidation, addition and substitution reaction). Ethanol and Ethanoic acid (only properties and uses), soaps and detergents.
 

 

UNIT II- WORLD OF LIVING

Control and co-ordination in animals and plants Whole Chapter has been removed by CBSE NCERT 10th class syllabus
Heredity and Evolution Basic Concepts of evolution
UNIT III- NATURAL PHENOMENON  Human Eye and the Colourful World Functioning of a lens in human eye, defects of vision and their corrections, applications of spherical mirrors and lenses
UNIT IV- EFFECTS OF CURRENT Magnetic Effects of Current Electric Generator, Direct current. Alternating current: frequency of AC, Advantage of AC over DC. Domestic electric circuits
UNIT V- NATURAL RESOURCES Sources of Energy Whole Chapter has been removed by CBSE NCERT 10th class syllabus
Management of Natural Resources Conservation and judicious use of natural resources. Forest and wild life; Coal and Petroleum conservation. Examples of people’s participation for conservation of natural resources. Big dams-advantages and limitation; alternatives. Water harvesting. Sustainability of natural resources.

Class 10th students are advised to refer to the NCERT books for topics and preparation.
