Kamala Bhasin was suffering from Cancer.

Renowned social activist, faminist and poet Kamala Bhasin, who worked for the upliftment of women, passed away at the age of 74 this morning(25th September 2021). She was fighting with cancer a few months back. Social worker Kavita Srivastava gave information about her death.

She wrote on Twitter, “Our dear friend Kamala Bhasin passed away today on 25th September at around 3 pm. This is a major setback for the women’s movement in India and the South Asian region. She celebrated life in adversity. Kamala you will always be alive in our hearts. A sister who is in deep sorrow. Similarly activist and actress Shaban Azmi also inform their followers on social media by posting the news of Kamala Bhasin Death.

Kamla Bhasin is an Indian developmental feminist activist, poet, author and social scientist. kamala Bhasin’s work, that began in 1970, focuses on gender, education, human development and the media. She lives in New Delhi, India. Kamala Bhasin is best known for her work with Sangat – A Feminist Network and for her poem Kyunki main ladki hoon, mujhe padhna hai. In 1995, she recited a refurbished, feminist version of the popular poem Azadi (Freedom) in a conference. She is also the South Asia coordinator of One Billion Rising.
